Conference Overview

The overall objective of the conference is to create an understanding regarding weather and climate extremes with emphasis on the issues related to the causes, monitoring and manifestations of extreme weather and climate and their implications to our social and economic fabric.

The conference specifically aims to provide a:

(i) A forum through which the members of the Kenya Meteorological Society can highlight its contributions to the economy and society;

(ii) A forum where members of the Kenya Meteorological Society, other scientists and partners can share and gain knowledge in order to improve/acquire their scientific research skills in addressing the challenges brought about by extreme weather and climate;

(iii) A forum for research peers from local and international institutions to network and initiate partnerships; and

(iv) An opportunity for scientists, policy makers and society to interact and make recommendations that will assist in the formulation of appropriate policies that can address the impacts of extreme weather and climate.
